In an LCD screen, liquid crystal molecules are suspended in tiny fluid cells. Sometimes, physical agitation can physically reset molecules that have lost their charge balance:

  1. Turn off the monitor: Power down the screen completely.
  2. Wrap a blunt instrument: Take a pencil with a smooth, soft rubber eraser or a blunt stylus. Wrap a clean, damp microfiber cloth around the tip in multiple layers to prevent scratching the anti-glare matte coating.
